About the Lab

We break things so you don't have to.

Side Hustle Lab started in 2026 as a shared spreadsheet between three operators who were tired of screenshot-rich, substance-poor income advice. The spreadsheet became a testing bench; the bench became this publication.

Today the Lab runs a small portfolio of the very blueprints it publishes — a curation newsletter, two template businesses, and a consulting sprint practice. The revenue from those funds the testing. The affiliate commissions are disclosed, audited, and deliberately kept secondary to product revenue.

We're not gurus and we don't sell courses about selling courses. We publish blueprints, templates, and honest numbers — then get back to work.

Editorial principles

The standard every idea must clear

Tested for 30 days minimum

No blueprint is published until it has been run with real hours and real money for at least a month. Theory stays in the drafts folder.

Receipts in the open

Every write-up includes startup spend, hours logged, and the revenue range observed — including the experiments that flopped.

Failures published too

Roughly a third of what we test doesn't clear the bar. Those logs are published as 'retired' so you can skip our mistakes.

Money never edits the verdict

Affiliate partners are chosen after testing, never before. A higher commission has never changed a recommendation, and never will.
